Field calculation tool
Load Bank Calculator
Calculate common generator load steps, or convert AC amps and kW with an explicit power-factor basis.
Three-phase current = kW × 1,000 ÷ (√3 × voltage × power factor).
Three-phase kW = √3 × voltage × amps × power factor ÷ 1,000.
Enter current and voltage readings for every phase shown to calculate estimated kW and actual load % automatically at PF 1.0. A direct kW reading overrides the estimate.

Calculation basis
This tool calculates expected current for a unity-power-factor resistive load bank. A generator’s nameplate current may be based on its kVA rating at a lower power factor, so full rated kW on a resistive bank may not equal nameplate full-load amps.
Use these values for planning—not as conductor sizing, connection approval, or proof of a required test procedure.
